Pediatric Faculty Institute 2024

This 2-part hybrid Pre-Conference course is aimed at faculty teaching the Pediatric content in DPT programs with less than 5-7 years of experience. The aims are to enhance teaching skills, increase confidence and breadth of teaching approaches that are consistent with the core competencies in the APPT Pediatric Physical Therapy Education consensus document and to support CAPTE requirements for faculty development in one’s specialty area. Part 1 will cover an introduction to the ‘academy’ and faculty roles, the basics of curriculum development, concepts of measurement for assessment, and an overview of the pediatric competency domains through online modules completed within 8 weeks of the start of APPTAC. Part 2 is a full day, in-person APPTAC pre-conference session that will build on the online portion and focus more deeply on assessment methods, test score interpretation, integration of evidence-based practice skills, and developing a scholarly agenda. Participants will receive a workbook with activities that reinforce course content and provide a personal resource for reflection and course improvement. Networking opportunities are integral to the experience.
