Early intervention and effective plan of care development are essential components of pediatric physical therapy practice, There is a growing utilization of intensive bouts of therapy particularly with infants and toddlers presumed at high risk for adverse developmental trajectory due to chronic neurodevelopmental conditions. This course will discuss the feasibility and process of developing an intensive PT program within a hospital based outpatient setting. A practice framework will identify the program need, best practice, and the operational components of devising this program. Discussion of appropriate outcome measures and several case studies will provide attendees the opportunity to consider feasibility of implementing similar programs in their settings. Finally, the course will discuss programmatic limitations, measurable improvements, and plans for the future.
