Full Swing Golf RI is a Rhode Island 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing accessible golf to children with disabilities in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. Every year, Full Swing Golf RI partners children with disabilities with local golf professionals, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to teach them the game of golf. The children receive personalized, one-on-one attention to adapt the game of golf to their abilities. The end result is that the children can have a brighter outlook for themselves and their future.
The mission of Full Swing Golf RI is to provide children with disabilities a therapeutic and recreational outlet through the game of golf so they will be able to overcome social stigmas, build confidence, and exceed expectations.
For the conference, Full Swing Golf RI will be putting together one of its adaptive golf clinics. There will be approximately 10 participants, children ages 3 - 21, of varying abilities. Children will perform "range hitting" (long shots) and putting. We will have our Paramobile (adaptive golf cart) in use with one of our participants as well as one on display for therapists to observe. Conference participants will see how adaptations are made to allow all children to be successful. There will also be information regarding interventions for therapists to utilize in the clinic that can foster success on the course and in life!
